Codes and Conventions; Film Magazine Cover (Draft)

Typically the main focus on the front cover of a film magazine would be one of the main actors/actress' from the film. This image would normally take up the whole cover and sometimes part of the title. 


There are generally two types of magazine; Indie and Mainstream. 
Examples of Indie film magazines include

Codes and Conventions; Movie Poster (draft)

Film posters are usually found inside and outside of cinemas as well as on the streets, In particular on telephone booths and on the side of buses. 

Film posters basically just advertise the film and the image/s normally take up the majority of the poster. 


Just like with a teaser trailer, there are teaser posters. These are essentially..
They also have a special category and awards for film posters; The worst film poster 2009 went to 'My One and Only' and The Best Teaser Poster 2009 went to 'Up'.

Locations (draft)

Because it is a teaser trailer, the shots are going to be quick and will be cutting to different scenes without revealing the whole plot. 
A number of different locations are going to be needed; 

1. Outside - when the doll is first discovered by the girl
2. The girls house - in her bedroom where she is having a tea party
3. Outside - for the montage of stalking shots

Casting

Casting for the teaser trailer is going to be significantly easier than the casting for my film opening. There is only going to be one main (human) character in the trailer, this being the young girl. The girl is going to be around 8-9 years old and i have already found someone willing to play her. Despite her being 12 years old she looks a lot younger. I didn't have a particular look in mind, for example her hair colour, however she has dark hair which is a typical characteristic in final girls.
The other main character is going to be the doll. I'm using the same doll from last years A2 work but because of the first shot the doll will have to look more mangled and dirty. There are two ways i can achieve this; i can either film all the dolls parts from when the girl cleans it up and then after that burn it and make it look more evil or i could use makeup and effects instead. The downside to physically damaging the doll is that i won't be able to re-shoot if i need to. 


A few minor characters will be needed for the stalking montage, mostly young females. 

Rough Idea for my Teaser Trailer

• This teaser trailer is going to be a sequel of my A2 film opening from last year. The antagonist will remain the same. 
• First shot is of a charred doll (the antagonist) being pulled out of some ashes/debris by a female child. 
• As she does this there will be a shot of a knife underneath
• The girl takes the doll home and cleans off the soot
• The girl then sets the doll down with her other dolls - child's tea party 
• The next shot will be of her setting down a plastic cup of water
• Then cutting to a shot of something electrical (Most likely a DVD player) on the table above
• After this the shot will cut and track the wire
• At this point the girls pet dog comes in and knocks the lead
• the plastic cup of water will then fall
• Cut to electrical and the hiss of the electrical and water
• this essentially jolts the doll and brings it back to life
• Next there will be a montage of stalking followed by scenes of violence. However nothing more than the arm of the doll holding a knife or using silhouette
• The final shot is of the doll with it's eyes open
• This will then be followed by the title 'summer 2011' or something to that effect.  

When shooting the electric shock scene it would obviously be too dangerous to actually try and act out so instead i'm going to create the shot by using shadows. I will just be showing the water falling via silhouette and use a strobe light for the electric shock.
